Let me tell you a little about myself...

For any questions this doesn't answer for you, I love meeting new people and sharing life stories, so please feel free to ask!

Massage

I graduated from an accelerated diploma program in Edmonton, AB through CDI college in 2007. Shortly after graduating, I was offered a position with my chiropractor, whom I worked with for two years. He taught me a great deal about posture, joint care, and my time there initiated my passion for theraputic massage.

After that we moved to Nova Scotia, and I took some time away to enjoy my first child. I returned to the industry in 2011 through a spa in Cole Harbour, which helped me to learn a greater respect for relaxation techniques, and more subtle methods of applying treatment techniques as well. However, my passion was always in treatments, so after one year I found myself with a wellness center in Eastern Passage.

In the summer of 2014, I decided that I was ready to fly solo through my own practice in our new home in the beautiful community of Mount Uniacke, where I hope to help its members to achieve their health and wellness goals.

In 2012, I attended the Canadian Sports Massage Association's annual general meeting, including the Sports Medicine Symposium, and a workshop on Fascial Stretch Therapy for the lower back and hips. My time in the industry has given me experience with various conditions, including but not limited to: chronic back and neck pain, sciatica, spinal disc degeneration and herniation, plantar fascitis, TMJ, scoliosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, multiple sclerosis, and fibromyalgia, to name a few.

Yoga

As for yoga, I began at the age of 13 with a program on PBS called Wai Lana Yoga. I found myself wondering what on earth she was doing (I now know it to be Garudasana, or the Eagle Pose), and whether or not I could do that! I followed the rest of the program that day, and continued to do so after school until high school. I carried all I learned with me, maintaining my home practice off and on over the years, occationally expanding my knowledge through the internet and books. Within my massage career, I began to realise that more often than not, I was suggesting yoga postures for home care more than anything else. I decided to embark on my journey as a yoga instructor in 2013, with the completion of my 200 hour certification through AYTT in the summer of 2014. My goal is to help others reconnect with themselves on a deeper level, and enjoy all that comes with such enhanced self-awareness.

Acupuncture
I have also just begun to bring Acupuncture into my training as well, as I have embarked on the three year diploma program through the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in September of 2015! I very much look forward to all that I will learn, and allowing this new approach to evolve all that I do even further.
